It's happening! We're currently working hard behind the scenes to prepare Mithra for its grand unveiling on Kickstarter, and things are moving fast.
If you've been following us for a while, you'll know that Mithra has been a labour of love for a few years now. For those of you joining us for the first time, welcome! Mithra is a hand-drawn point and click adventure where you investigate the world's oldest cult. It's weird, it's layered, and it's the most ambitious thing we've ever built. And now, we're about to take the biggest step yet in bringing it fully to life.
So, how do you actually prepare a Kickstarter campaign? Let me pull back the curtain so you can have a sneak peak of what we've been up to.

A new demo for the Kickstarter campaign
The demo has been through a lot of iterations. Players who caught us at Mega Con Live, AdventureX or at GDLX gave us a tonne of amazing feedback and suggestions that we've baked into the most polished, most complete version of Mithra's opening so far.
Every puzzle, every line of dialogue, every ambient sound cue has been looked at with fresh eyes. We want anyone who tries the demo during our Kickstarter campaign to immediately get it. To feel the atmosphere, to follow Kyra down the rabbit hole, and to not want to come out.

Designing rewards for backers
This part consumed a lot more time and brainpower than I initially anticipated. Crowdfunding rewards aren't just tiers on a page, they're promises to customers that require in-depth planning and prototyping on one side through to fulfillment at the other.
We're currently in talks with a fantastic company in the UK who are helping us to design a set of rewards that feel genuinely special to fans of the game rather than just obligatory add-ons. We're hoping to deliver carefully considered physical and digital items that fit within the world of Mithra.
We're not ready to reveal everything just yet (sorry!) but we're excited about what we've put together.

Why Kickstarter?
The honest answer? Creating any game is an expensive endeavour and we're no exception to this. Everything we've created for Mithra is bespoke, all character and environment art is hand-drawn, all music has been written exclusively for the game, and our narrative plan has been through extensive planning, editing and re-writes over a period of months. We're extremely proud of what we've built, but doing things properly requires resources. We want to ensure that the rest of the game maintains or exceeds our own internal standards and the standards of our community (that's you!). Kickstarter lets us bring our most important supporters directly into the process of finishing the game ensuring that Mithra meets your expectations. That's the most important thing to us.
We don't want our campaign to be just a simple funding exercise, but a chance for the dev team and the community to build something amazing together. It's a campaign for the people who've been following Kyra's story from the beginning.
