Hello and happy new year to you all (yes we know we're slightly late).
My name is Jared Rigby and I'm a programmer currently building Mithra, our adventure game all about the world's oldest cult.
2026 is a big year for us as we're aiming to get Mithra completed and out to the world this summer (if all goes well). As we march ever closer to releasing the final version of the game, each month we're going to be sharing some development updates and sneak peaks from behind the scenes.
This month, we'd like to share some early screenshots from the second act of the game which is set in Beijing. Our amazing artist, Kater, is hard at work crafting environments for Kyra to explore as part of her investigations into the cult of Mithra.

The act itself takes place within 'the hutongs', the bustling side-streets of inner-city Beijing that date back hundreds of years. These days, they contain boutique stores, cafes and restaurants as well as being home to thousands of Beijingers. There are going to be plenty of mysteries to uncover, interesting residents to speak with, as well as the ever-present shadow of Mithra looming nearby...

Beijing is a very special city for us as a studio, the origins of Mithra (the game, not the cult) can be traced back a pub in Wangjing called Jing-A where myself, Dan and Tim shared initial story ideas, character concepts and potential mechanics over a couple of pints. We hope you enjoy exploring these streets as much as we've enjoyed designing them for you.

Until next time!
